I'm planning to run my Arlo Pro always plugged in to power, but with the battery installed in case of a power outage. The cord that comes with the Pro is a few feet short of reaching my outlet. Can I plug in a third party regular USB extension cord to reach the outlet?

Yes, a longer QUALITY cable would suffice. If it uses small gauge wire as most cheap cables do, you may well have issues. Look for quick charge cables which should have the larger gauge wire.
