I have the Arlo Pro system, with the base station model VMB4000.  I am trying to set up a USB local storage device to save all of the footage from the cameras permanently.  I was struggling to get it set up and called tech support.  I found out that USB local storage is not available with the current firmware.  I was told that in possible firmware updates, local storage will be available, but it is not now.  We bought this system specically because on the arlo website it says that local storage is available with the pro system.  does anyone have any more information about this?

What firmware are you on?
I'm on 1.12.0.1_27940 and through all the recent firmwares, I've had local storage available and active

Oh, but local storage is ONLY a backup. It's not designed as a primary usage device. The system is designed to be cloud based

@ChrisHemba

Whoever told you that local storage is not available is either stupid or lied to you, unless you were trying to bypass the cloud recordings and view everything through your local storage. On the back ov the Pro base are two USB sockets and each one will accept up to a 2tb external drive or a flash drive. @steve_t is absolutely correct. You will need to remove the hard drive or flash drive and insert it into a computer to be able to view the recordings. Arlo will not get rid of its cloud recordings.
