Why do routines show up disabled and will not change to enabled. I have to delete a routine and keep starting over then it may or may not work.  Need to add a section for support for this new software that is less than friendly.

My plan is simple - turn on all three Arlo Secure model VMC5040 4K Wire-Free Ultra 2 security cameras at 6pm every day of the week and turn them off at 9am.  You'd think that was simple to do, but no.  ☹️

  1. Enable the schedule automations in both Arm Home and Standby, but not in Arm Away.  Check this in both the mode settings and the automation settings.
  2. Check that the cameras are armed in Arm Home, and disarmed (no camera rules) in Standby.
  3. Set the 6 pm automation to switch to Arm Home
  4. Set the 9 am automation to switch to Standby

This will work (bugs might have gotten in your way before).

Arm Away will disable the schedule.  If you return during the day, set the system to Standby.  If you return at night, set it to Arm Home.  The system will begin following the schedule again.

Do you mind sending me a screenshot of what you are seeing? Also are you on iOS or Android device?

I have the same issue.  Routines used to work fine but recently have been constantly disabled.  I'm using an Android device

Can I get some screenshots of the behavior you are seeing? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

I found the same problem when logged on via my android - it said the two schedules I have were 'disabled'.  I logged on via windows instead,  my.arlo.com and noticed the two schedules were greyed, although it didn't actually label them as 'disabled'.  I clicked on each and they were no longer greyed and the android app now no longer labels them as disabled.

Do you have the schedule automations enabled in every mode?  Any automation that isn't listed is disabled when that mode is chosen.

No, I have mode Arm Home enabled for 'Set on evenings' and 'set off mornings', but Arm Away and Standby modes have these schedules turned off.

I previously tried switching modes in those schedules between Arm Home and Standby, but they would work in one direction but not the other!

It's early days - yesterday evening it successfully enabled my cameras but this morning it didn't disable them.

Once I've got a combination of settings that works I'll post them here.

When you were saying "set on evenings" and "set off mornings" were turned off, which of the modes were you in?  ARM HOME or ARM AWAY or STANDBY?

I would Routines >> Modes >> that mode, and then check under "automation" to see if "set on evenings" and "set off mornings" are enabled, under this particular mode.

And just to play safe .... do you happen to have any of your automations (under routines) enabling/disabling a schedule, when triggered?

Thank you StephenB and Alex_Loo,

I think everything is working now after a lot of experimenting.  My current settings are:

Automations

   Schedule ‘Set on evenings’

      Set for 6pm every day.

         Then:

            Send notification/to everyone.

            Change mode to ‘Arm home’.

   Schedule ‘Set off mornings’

      Set for 9am every day.

         Then:

            Send notification/to everyone.

            Change mode to ‘Standby’.

Modes

   Arm away

All 3 cameras set to Motion detection on/then: record video and send notification to everyone.

The two schedules are not selected.

   Arm home

All 3 cameras set to Motion detection on/then: record video and send notification to everyone.

      Both schedules are  selected.

   Standby

All 3 cameras set to Motion detection off.

      Both schedules are selected.

hi @Clivey47 ,

Glad to hear you are happy with your settings.  Can I ask you a few follow-up questions?

1.  I suppose you'd want "ARM AWAY" when you are leaving home.  Do you just switch that manually every time?

2. I don't see any geofencing (Leave/Arrive section, under "automation") rules.  Is this intentional by yourself?

Alex

ps: I agree that your setting has also been working perfectly fine on my end too.  It's just that I also want to include geofencing automation, which has been very buggy.

just a note that for even neater setup (please forgive this from a virgo 😅), you can select and enable only "Set off mornings" under "Arm Home" config, since "set on evenings" is never supposed to be triggered.

Similarly, you only need to select and enable "Set on evenings" under "Standby", since "set off mornings" should never happen while standby.

And of course, even if you don't change your setup, it is perfectly fine and won't go wrong in practice.

Hi Alex_Loo,

1.  Yes I manually set Arm Away when I need it - not a common occurrence.

2. No I haven't set on any  geofencing at this point and your mention of it being buggy helps me justify not looking any further at it 😀.

I have 4 routines set up standby from 6 am to 8pm weekdays arm away from 8pm to 6pm

arm away sat/sun. Every morning my client tells me he's getting barraged with notifications! And when I check the routine it is greyed out. So annoying!

is your app "feed" or "library"?

(I can only comment on "feed" type of app)

Routines are enabled/disabled under each mode (Arm home/ Arm Away/  Standby).

It is not uncommon the when you have already switched to certain mode, using certain automation, you no longer need that same automation anymore in the mode. (ie the automation switches the app to a mode that will disable the automation itself, making it grey)

Last but not the least, even if an automation is disabled/grey, you can still click the arrow next to it to open it up and edit it.

Alex

You can configure this under Routines >> Modes >> (one of the modes) >> turn ON/OFF the automations listed there.

Normally I suggest reserving Arm Away for times when you really are away from home.  So in this case, I'd set up the schedule to shift between Arm Home and Standby.  That said, shifting between Arm Home and Standby does work.

I think your problem is that the enable list in the automations is set up wrong.  Often people mistakenly put the mode they want to switch to in the enable list.  I did a post on this a while ago, it is here:

Another possibility is that the client has put the system into "Arm Home", and that the automations aren't set up to run when the system is in that mode.
