Is the Pro 5S 2K compatable with the VMB4000 base unit?
I need to get two cameras and want to keep the VMB4000 base unit. Would you recommend these cameras?

Yes.
Note you will need a subscription to get any cloud storage. Arlo stopped offering free 7-day cloud storage for new camera models back in 2018, and all of the currently sold cameras need a subscription to get any cloud storage.

Are you replacing legacy cameras? They will work after the EoL date is reached, so there is no need to immediately replace them. If you are happy with the way they are working today, then I suggest that you hold off on replacing them until that changes.
Personally I like my Pro 5s. Though there have been some reports here from folks who've complained about recordings, that is not something I've experienced myself.
