I have the most updated app and cameras. The new app has the Arm Away, Arm Home and Standby "Modes".

Is there are way to create a 4th mode? I'd like to be able to customize my modes a little more.

Okay...sure...but why would anyone apply the settings of a PANEL to any customers that do not have that device?

I don't work for them.

That said, if they were were going to keep Library, they wouldn't have migrated millions of subscribers to Feed over the past months.  I don't see any path where they try to maintain two very different interfaces in the same app forever.

The path forward is clearly going to be built on Feed.

This is horrible. Local storage liberary was the best feature, for is that DONT want to pay the sub. This feature is now ruined. Not ok! Fix it.

I just cancelled my service and am looking for new cameras for the same reason. They took a good product/service and totally screwed it up.

Local storage hasn't changed.  I suspect you were using the free 7-day cloud storage before (and NOT local storage).  That has changed, as Arlo stopped offering that on new camera models back in 2018 - so all the currently sold cameras need a subscription for cloud storage.

No. I have the arlo smarthub  base stadion with memorycard in it. Why would you suspect that?

Arlo has taken away a good product and destroyed it with the new app/UI. I now have no dig deep into the settings on the smarthub base stadion to access my recordings. Before it was listed in the same library as the cloud. So yeah, this still sucks. And we all hate arlo now that paid extra for this in 2021.

Because a lot of folks posting issues on local recordings were actually using the 7-day free cloud storage with their legacy cameras, but mistakenly thought they were using local storage.

They are in the process of changing that back, so local recordings will be shown in the feed.  That should roll out with the 5.2 version of the app.  You'll see a "local" option in the feed settings when you get that change.

So are the comments from users about issues going to be ignored?

5.2 update. They say will fix this. We shall see... maybe, maybe not.

No new changes for me on 5.2 on Android. On Apple, a different story. I presume they're still working on the Android version, and knowing how they work, we'll be used as testers... I hope I'm wrong, though.

From a cost effective point, probably it'd have cost Arlo less money to make some changes/alterations to the graphics on the old app rather than to develop a new one.

Instead, they're spending all that money on constantly fixing the new app - and struggling to do that big time - but also developing 'new' features like custom modes or moving the local storage (back) to the Feed section, which is the old 'Library' section.

Seriously, they could have just added another tab on the old app called 'Dashboard', though to be honest I still have no idea what's the difference between 'Dashboard' and 'Devices' (and the new version apparently defaults to Devices anyway if Dashboard has no devices listed there), make the Devices section editable, renamed Library with Feed, and change the colour from green to blue, and that would be it. Instead, they created something that everyone hates and, most importantly, finds it extremely difficult to configure, let alone lack of flexibility.

New features would be an ability to edit (rename, move about and delete from view) the old Devices, Library etc sections, i.e. the lower part of the app, as well as the order in which cameras occur. Plus more customisation such as editable buttons like Arm, Arm away etc to suit the European market where the alarm system is unavailable.

But, that kind of approach of not thinking things through seems to be adopted by a lot of inept managers that want to justify their big salaries: take an old product that is good and repackage it but in a way that destroys all the good features.

Here's what I am now seeing with iOS

I was expecting to see "Local" in the feed filtering, but instead they put it on the main screen, with a pulldown to select the base station.  That is similar to "Library", although with "Library", the pulldown was built into the screen title.

Just chiming in to say add'l custom modes shouldn't be a feature request for a feature requirement for Arlo. I've been banging my head for a week to convert what was a flawless setup in the old UI with both schedules and geofencing to a complete POS in trying to marry the two in the new UI. Not having a custom mode where I can create a copy of Arm Away but have it not tied to geofencing is killing me.

This new app is childish and took away all the flexibility of the older version.  Google home is also broken with no fix date planned.  I’ve been using Arlo for over 4 years and was satisfied till they released this new bug ridden version and truthfully….they are no longer a reliable security service.  I’m done with the company.  If I need to update cameras, I will replace them with a competitor brand.  They broke my trust in their product line and think we should accept this ridiculous new app.  So many bugs and failures in the app that I can’t rely on it anymore.  Don’t hold your breath waiting for them to change the app…it will be years before that happens. They really pissed me off!

Same. Android, no changes. IOS got local storage feed in new update though.

So did Android. But don't hold your breath: there are bugs/issues, as usual.

As a commercial product, this app is very poor and I'm shocked at the poor treatment that this company is offering for the price point. Free community projects like IPFire, AdGuard and others are far more superior; Arlo is not a free community project, yet offers an extremely poor experience. I've said this before but will continue until they do something about it; I'm also calling for head of development team to resign.

The only way they will address this childish app is by hitting their profits.  I for one will never buy another product from them.  Security is a priority in today’s world and they make a farce out of it.  So many failures in the new app that buyers need to beware of the risks associated with their lax concern for the consumers of their products.  Heads should roll yes…but that won’t happen as they have dug a deep hole for themselves and it will take years to resolve while users remain at high risk to the flaws associated with their ignorance!   This is NOT a security company!  It is a playpen of unskilled engineers!
