Just activated the 5s camera and updated to latest app and firmware 4.11.1 (7230) on Dec 27, 2023. I replaced my old Essential spotlight camera, and mounted the 5s camera on the same exact hardware mount of the old camera. I have found the motion detection quite poor. Not picking up cars or people in driveway like before, I need to be much closer than with my old camera. I have done all the obvious fixes, like zones, sensitivity, changed camera angle. No change. Has Arlo shrunk the motion detector distance? This is a real disappointment and I will probably return it if nobody out there has had similar issue and solved it. Thanks much.

A couple of days after this post the camera started behaving as I hoped it would. I was waiting a while to repost an update about the change to be certain nothing was intermittent. At this point, it is stable and the motion detection is excellent, picking up cars and people a good distance, maybe 30 feet, and similar or better to my older essential spotlight. I have no idea what changed. I had set the sensitivity high, and it almost seems like the setting was not working, but then it was? If this was user error, ie, me, I can’t place the error. The camera literally started working overnight after not working. It’s working fine and I intend to keep it. Thanks for following up.

What are your sensitivity settings set at and how far are the objects you are trying to detect?
