Can Someone tell me if the same battery is used in all 3 of these cameras? Also, what is the difference between the Pro5 and the Pro 5S?

Thanks

Yes.

There is no Pro 5, only the 5s.  No idea why Arlo decided on that branding, as it isn't consistent with the other cameras in the Pro line.

Stephen,

Thanks. So the battery between the Arlo Pro4 and the Pro5s are interchangeable?

Also, can you explain what is different about the Pro 5 that it isn't consistent with the Pro4. Is it to try and sell their

Arlo Secure subscriptions?

The only real difference I could see is that they the Pro 5s has dual band wifi, which if you are using wifi outside it is normally going to use2.4 anyway, so I don't see much benefit to it. It sounds like their mention of a battery saying "low-power" mode is just another gimmick of theirs which doesn't  work very well.

Thanks.

Your question was the Pro5 vs Pro5s, not the Pro 4 vs the Pro5s

I agree that 5 ghz doesn't have that much value for an outdoor camera.

There is also the smartlink feature, though that only applies if you also have their home security system.

FWIW, I am finding that my Pro 5s has much better battery life than my other Pro cameras.  So IMO that isn't hype.

Stephen,

Ok thanks. So how are they improving the battery life since it is the same battery as the Pro 4. I assume it must have something to do with the low power mode, but does that compromise the motion sensing etc?

I realize you might not know, but am interested in your observation. It might be useful for one of my cameras.

Thanks much.

It is the same battery.  I haven't noticed any drop in performance, so I am thinking it is simply more efficient electronics.

Stephen,

One final question. I may need to open a separate question on this. I did order on elf the Pro 5S cameras. However when I go to add it, it warns me about a "new experience" and that you can't go back etc. etc. It also warns me that my Arlo Go cameras will not support this. Does having one of these cameras force you to go to some new monitoring plan? Or any other details you might provide.

I am inclined to just send to back and get another Pro4. I was going to evaluate it for battery life but I do not want to screw up my whole system on the outside chance that I might get better battery life.

Thanks, Larry

The plan is the same.  Arlo is slow-rolling a new user interface - going much slower than they anticipated, as they have been running into a lot of snags.  On-boarding the Pro 5s will migrate your account to the new interface (note both are supported in the app and the browser, this is an account setting in the Arlo cloud).  Arlo won't switch you back to the current experience (called "Library" here).

Given that they are telling it you won't work with your Go cameras, then I suggest sending the camera back for now.
