My cams have held solid in over 76 mph winds.... prob all comes down to where mounted in relation to wind.
But, I do recommend a tether to the camera if in doubt. ( simple as some fishing line if needed )

The tether sounds like a great idea! They held up well at 50 mph winds. Didn't even shake much.
