I have recently had the January 2023 firmware update loaded (automatic) and now I cannot get my camera to charge. The camera has successfully charged previously using the same Arlo brand wall charger and magnetic cable. I tried using a different Arlo cable and also changed to an Apple wall charger as well as off-brand charger... nothing's working, I get an "Unable to charge battery" notice saying to "connect a compatible Arlo Charger to the device" for the camera on my Arlo Secure iPhone app!

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Have you reinserted the battery? That might help. DOes the supplied charger work on other devices? Have you cleaned the contacts on both sides of the magnetic connector?

I am having this problem. All my other cameras charged, except one. Changed charger, batteries, still shows that batteries aren’t charged?? Can anyone help please?

I have used this charger to charge the other batteries, worked, even changed batteries, same problem??

Well, it's either

  • the camera
  • the battery
  • the cable
  • the charger (including compatibility with the camera)

Not sure exactly what you tried, but if you have multiple Pro 4 cameras, you can systematically work through the possibilities

  1. swapping batteries with a different camera, and see if the problem moves
  2. swapping cables and see if the problem moves
  3. trying a different charger

Although I have no good explanation why this should matter, I've sometimes found that switching to a different outlet sometimes works.

A workaround (that might be useful generally) is to get a standalone charger and perhaps a spare battery.  Then you can quickly swap the battery out, and charge it in the standalone charger.
