Does anyone know why I could not do this using the Synology router?

Actually, I think your cameras are connected to your smarthub using the smarthub's closed wifi, and that the smarthub is connected to the Arlo cloud through an ethernet connection to the synology router.
Can you confirm? If your cameras are connected to the Synology router, then there is no local library, just cloud storage.

For a couple of weeks now I have had no success in viewing local thumb drive recordings when I use my Synology router. Today I changed the router to my eero mesh instead and immediate was able to view my local library.

Interesting, as many users struggle with Arlo+eero.
- Were you still able to livestream with the synology?
- If you were using port forwarding, did you remember to set up port forwarding again in the router (using whatever local IP address that the synology assigned the smarthub)?
On the synology side:
- Was the base connected to an IoT network (vlan) or just to the regular network?
- Did you have Threat Prevention or some other advanced security features enabled?

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Just to clarify: My smart hub is connected via ethernet to my router. I can live stream the cameras just fine. The local library is intact and when I replace the synology router with another router such as eero 6+ I can access the local library just fine.
I did play with port forwarding as a solution but could not set it up as per the arlo settings so gave up in the end. Not sure about whether threat prevention was enabled....

Not sure if it would have mattered either. But sometimes security features can get in the way.
@JamesC : Might be something to have the developers follow up on. They might need to get one of these routers to figure it out though.

Thanks StephenB. I would love to get this sorted as the Synology mesh is my preferred. I'm sure its just a setting somewhere in the Synology router (since eero had no difficulties) but for the life of me don't know which one.
