Arlo Pro 4 does not record locally with SmartHub (and without a subscription)

-So my free trial subscription that came with the Arlo Pro 4 i purchased had recently expired.
-I am currently noticing that the Arlo Pro 4 itself now will not record to my library, i doubt it is even being recorded onto the local storage device i had configured to my smarthub.
-When the free subscription was active, i had no complaints aside from video quality (which happens to appear better when viewed on a computer)
-Am i right to assume that i need a subscription in order for an Arlo Pro 4 to record Locally? Because that is the type of s#it about consumer home tech that is really getting to me. It is unfair to be subjected into subjugation through a subscription service.
-Someone please tell me i am wrong and whether or not i am alone on this?

First try ejecting the storage, and connect it to a PC. Then see if the recordings are there.
