When I first installed the Arlo Pro 4 camera and added it to my VMB 4000 base station, even though it was on the 3 month trial, events from it did not show up in my Library history. Am I correct in assuming this was because the my VMB and my older cameras are on the old, still current  until February, free 7 day free library capability?

When I removed the Pro 4 from the base station and connected it directly to wifi it appears in my library.

If I take out subscription all of my old cameras and base station will Pro 4 show up in library if connected to VMB 4000 or is VMB 4000 incapable of showing new generation Arlo cameras in library history?

Subscriptions are for cameras, not base stations.  And the VMB4000 isn't showing you anything in the library, everything you see in the library is in the Arlo Cloud.

That said, a Pro 4 with a subscription (paid or trial) connected to a VMB4000 base should have cloud storage  - whether the older cameras are subscribed or not.

Arlo Pro 4 definitely doesn't show events in library when connected via base station. I have also purchased a new Arlo Doorbell and neither do events show in the library when connected via the base station, but do when directly connected to wifi. All software is up-to-date.

I have to say I am disappointed with my new Arlo purchases.

Do you see "Library" on the main screen?  Or "Feed"?

FWIW, I do see the recordings, though I use smarthubs (VMB4540 and VMB5000).

Can you make a manual recording (when the camera is connected to the VMB4000)?

Also, is there a reason you want the camera connected to the base?

I would have to remove camera and reinstall to test if I can make a manual recording. Maybe in next few days if I have time. What will that prove?

Why use the base station I already own?

Connecting via the base gives me way more flexibility with modes. For example, I currently have many arming modes: All cameras, Front Door alone, Front Door and Drive, Back Gate and Garden, etc. These modes will only arm specific cameras and leave others disarmed. I am unable to see how do do this with all cameras and doorbell connected directly to wifi.

Secondly, the Arlo site specifies that connecting to base station uses less camera battery.

It would verify that the camera is in a subscription plan when connected to the base.

Agreed.  Unfortunately the new "Feed" experience doesn't allow custom modes - at some point (no idea when) Arlo will migrate everyone to Feed.

One thing that is good though, is that the modes apply to all cameras at the location, no matter how they are connected.
