Very frustrating - getting notifications but can't actually view them. Get this message on 4g and on wifi. Any ideas?

It almost sounds like you're using a VPN and/or you're not at home. Exactly when and how do you get this error?

Only when I'm away from the home - i.e. not using home wifi.

For example, at work, on both 4G and work wifi I get the message and can't access the library BUT I can access live streaming from the cameras and I get motion alerts. I just can't access the stored images.

Have you followed the directions to set up port forwarding or VPN connection? That's the only way to remotely view the local recordings - you have to be able to access your internal home network by one of these methods.
