Two Notifications for every event

Every event that occurs generates a notification both from the Base unit, and from the device that registered the event.  How do I stop the notification from the Base Unit? This infomation is useless as it does not provide any useable information.  I have looked through all of the settings and cannot figure out how to decouple the base unit from providing notifications.  I'm probably missing something,  as I have just set-up my system for the first time.
