My arlo outdoor cameras are notifying me of motion but as of today there are no events recorded in the feed. I have followed all the suggestions on arlo website but no luck solving this issue

Are these Pro 3 cameras?  If not, what model are they?

Do you have a subscription?

If not, are you using direct access to local storage?

Yes they are pro3 cameras, I don’t have a subscription but up until yesterday have always received notifications via the app when motion is detected and then when I click on feed it shows the recording.  Now when I click on feed it says no events today but I still get the motion notifications - have tried all that the arlo help sites suggest. I feel very frustrated with arlo as a whole and seem to have no end of trouble with the effectiveness of the system. Recently I installed a eufy solar camera and it’s brilliant and have had no issues so am wondering if it’s time to cut my losses and give up on arlo. Seems such a waste as the system wasn’t initially cheap to install.

Are you using a VMB4540 or VMB5000 smarthub with the direct access to local storage feature configured?

Yes I am using the vmb 4540 smart hub and sorry I am not very technical so don’t quite understand what you mean by storage configured or how to check if that’s the case

If you don't have a subscription, then the only way to access recordings is to use the local storage feature of the smarthub.  This requires that you connect storage (usually a USB thumb drive) to the USB port of the smarthub.  You also need to set this up in the smarthub settings of the app.

If you saw recordings without setting this up, then either you

  • had a subscription that must have expired
  • have a Pro  or Pro 2 camera (not Pro 3), since they have 7-day free cloud storage (the Pro 3 does not).
