Mounting Arm Extension

Has anyone had a problem/issue unscrewing the mount from the camera for the extension arm?  Seems to be stripped in the camera threads as when trying to loosen it keeps turning and mount will not release to allow opening/lifting the battery door fully in order to replace the batteries.
