Arlo VMB4540 Smart Hub

Hello,

I just received my VMB4540 Smart Hub today.

I followed the setup instructions in my Arlo app, which included a firmware update.  I see it in my app now.

I have an existing network of:

• Four (4) Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight cameras,
• One (1) 1st generation Arlo doorbell camera and
• One (1) Arlo remote chime on my property. 
• I also have one new Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight to install and add.

I have two (2) questions…

#1.  Is there any automated process where I can migrate all of my cameras from the current wi-fi network, over to the smart hub?

#2.  I’m concerned that the Smart Hub won’t be able to reach all of my cameras, due to how far the cameras are spread out around my property (in part due to the terrain).  In fact, I had to add my current wi-fi mesh system, to get all of the cameras to reliably stay up.  So, is there a process where I can use a dedicated wi-fi mesh system to extend the Smart Hub wi-fi network, around my property?

1) No. You must remove the cameras and add them back as if new.

2) The hub generally has the same reach as a router so if all the cameras connect ok to the router (not a satellite) then  you should be ok. Make sure the hub is not right next to the router - move it away at least a couple of feet. There's no way to extend the hub's reach - the usual solution is to use a 2nd hub so all cameras get a good connection.

No, there is no way to extend the smarthub wifi.  All you can do (as @jguerdat suggests) is get additional smarthubs.
