I suddenly can’t get rid of an ad in the library to buy a subscription. Blocks my recordings. I have the wireless Pro 3. VMB 4540r2. Tried deleting app, signing out and deleting app, unplugging base station and even deleted the activity zones as one has suggested. Solutions? Thanks

Think I got it fixed. Not sure if this will work for others who have the add blocking videos. But I removed all my devices and reinstalled them. Along the way I noticed a firmware update that I hadn't received. Not sure if there was a way to do that manually before all the gyrations, but it did it while reinstalling the hub. Thanks Guru for your patience.

Do you have any subscription, including the original trial one? Without a sub, no videos will be displayed or otherwise accessible.

Not now. I did for 18 months until Arlo bumped the rate. The manual says you can record local without a sub as long as you use a thumb drive. That worked up until a few days ago when that ad popped up blocking access.
Thanks for the quick response.

Which UI are you using - the old one that uses Library to view videos or the new one with Feed? I'm guessing the old one since you reference the library.
Do you still have the pull-down menu to choose the local recordings?

By UI I'm assuming user interface and that being the mobile app and/or the website. If so, the app gives me the "library" option only, as does the web site. Does that help? I've never seen a pull-down for local recordings.
Thanks

Correct. On that UI you must choose from the menu which source you want to view from - cloud or local recordings. It would appear that you've always been using cloud recordings since you had a sub at that point. As I recall, the web view doesn't support viewing local recordings, just from the app. If local recording is enabled, the app should have a menu at the top of Library to select the source.

Thanks again for hanging with me on this.
I don't have that local menu you mention above. Under Storage Settings I have Record Locally toggled on, as is Best Local Recording and Overwrite Automatically. Storage Status reads "ready" and my thumb drive has used 148 MB of 3.74 GB.
I see in the App Store there has been an update of the app that's now 2 weeks old. Is that when the pull-down was introduced?
I think you are right about the website not having the ability to view locals. I seem to remember that early on when I dropped my subscription and went local only.
Update to this post: I went back and read the article on how to "enable direct access." It tells us that once "record locally" is enabled, to switch on "enable direct access." I don't have that toggle. Could the app be out of date or not compatible with iPhone 14? I've downloaded the update several times and it didn't work.
I'll stop now and let you respond to all this when you get a chance.

I use the new UI so can't comment on app updates having an effect on how the old UI works. It's possible it's been removed but I have no idea.
For starters, try rebooting the phone and reinstalling the app to see if that helps.

Nah. That didn't work. I had tried it several times before but didn't work then, and didn't work now.
You mention the "new UI".... how do you get that?

Simply choose to install the Pro 5 or security system even though you don't have them. The first step is to migrate your account after which you just back out of the bogus install. Be aware that the new UI is significantly different and takes some to slog through to locate and familiarize yourself with where things are and how they work. Custom modes don't migrate so you have to use the 3 default modes to do what you need. And you can't go back...

Thanks. I'll give that a try and let you know. I first, though, may try a re-install (start over) as suggested elsewhere to see if that works and then go your route.
