Activity zones stop working after 3 months subscription is over?

I just put these up a few days ago and I was just told the activity zones only work with a subscription. Is this true?

TisyMcStagger,

 

Cloud Activity Zones require an active Arlo Smart trial or subscription plan. Arlo Pro 3 comes with a 3 moth trial of Arlo Smart, which includes cloud Activity Zones.
