Hi all,

I decided to purchased Arlo Pro 3 b/c I've used Arlo Pro 2 in the past, and like it.

I just recently purchased the Aro Pro 3 (4 cameras) brand new, and the activity zone isn't working like it should.

I only want it to record/alert the motion within the defined area, but somehow it still record outside of the zone.

I've tried many different zones, but still not working. My smart hub firmware is up-to-date.

My second issue is the schedule not working as I defined it.

I created the schedule for living room, and added it to the 'Schedule' plan for it not to record video during specified night time. However, it still continue to record and alert like normal.

Overall, the video quality and audio are good, better than Ring Spotlight.

If the engineers/developers can fix these two issues, I'm sure myself and other users are  very happy.

Thanks.

This is not James's vault. If it wasn't for James we would be 100% in the dark. James is not providing us with really anything , but atleast he is replying. I'd prefer a reply vs nothing. I think the bigger issue is the people above James.

You purchased the ultra and they work fine ?

They work perfect. I also have 4 Pro 2‘s and a couple of the pro’s. Everything works fine. But you couldn’t give me a pro 3.

I'm way beyond the return date.  I spend hundreds on this and just want a working system.  This is beyond frustrating.  The recent updates they did on their server end has also drained my battery, as the solar charging can no longer keep up, when before, there were no such issues at all.

I keep telling myself "give a some time maybe it will get fixed", it's been 3 months according to your post. Yikes idk how much longer I should wait.

@Jcamp  When did you return you pro 3 cams. I have 4 and since the "cloud fix" they have been fine, not perfect but much better. . Others still report problems on Ultra and other model cams and others say they are ok.

Hey James - I did contact them a lot and the same thing happens everytime, nothing. This is one of the worst customer service I've ever experienced.... I'm returning them - Arlo 3.

I am not reporting any more problems until you announce a change in your problem management system.
Currently there is no communication on the status of problems. Why report a problem when you will never hear if or when it is fixed? I would much rather just vent in this forum, as other users do provide some feedback. It rarely helps, but it is infinitely better than silence.
I am just sad that I purchased a product with such abysmal support. It is even sadder that nothing is ever done to improve the problem management process.

Glad to see I am not going mad. I have the Arlo Pro 3 and also can't get the activity zones to work at all which is quite frustrating, and causes the battery to drain much quicker with all of the false alerts.

Can you refund my subscription fee until it starts to work? Contacted support for that. No response at all.

Is there anyone in this thread managed to get activity zone work? Would you mind share how you did that? Thanks.

@Micay    Mine are working fine after the cloud fix in early june. I did delete my old ones first

When I set them up when I first got the cams I had limbs or something  blowing on windy days into the activity area and adjusted and it worked. Its not perfect though. As others have said positioning is everything.

A recent update was deployed to the Arlo cloud that should address the accuracy of Activity Zones. This should improve accuracy by more reliably sending notifications only when motion occurs within defined zones. More work is being done to improve the behavior of Arlo Smart notifications and to fix the Activity Zones error that some users are seeing when not using an AC adapter (battery only). Stay tuned for future updates.

Hi,

I notice that my Arlo cameras got no power (no blue light) frequently even though it's connected with an A/C adapter.

The base station has solid blue light. When I tried to access the camera, it displayed: "This Arlo device is offline."

However, after I restarted the base station, the cameras are working normally.

This incident happened almost every week.

Arlo Pro 3 is very disappointed me compare to Arlo Pro 2.

Does anybody know why ?

For those still experiencing issues with Activity Zones, please take a look at the following KB articles for best performance and troubleshooting tips:

How do I troubleshoot problems with Arlo activity zones?

What are activity zones and how do I create them?

Still doesn't work.  Whatever update was done only worked for one day, and only at night.  I created new activity zones after deleting old ones, and still doesn't work.  It still records everything outside of activity zones.  Even locally.. I don't want anything outside of the zones to be recorded locally on my SD card.  This is such a simple thing that's on EVERY SINGLE security camera.

Also, it'd be way better if the activity zones were not squares.  We need angled lines.  Other camera systems have it where you can accurately define zones that are of all shapes to exactly fit whatever area that needs to be covered.  These squares are useless, especially because I can't have enough to cover everything with only 5 zones when I need to cover an area that's a an angle.

Just to clarify, activity zones do not prevent the camera from "triggering" and recording. This is why the battery drains fast, even if working properly. You'll be able to prove this out because you'll notice that ALL motion is recorded locally, while the cloud "filters" the recording based on AI and your defined activity zones (when working properly).

Yea also there were some saying they saw the recording icon on but no recordings. I noticed visually it was detecting motion outside my activity zone so no recording.

My activity zones for my Arlo Q cameras are not working and haven't for a while.  I see the previous responses, but there doesn't appear to be any solutions.  Any updates?  I've deleted the zones, re-added them.  I've zoomed the camera to narrow the field the camera is looking at.  The cameras still trip when anything enters the field of view.  Is Arlo still working this?

Arlo hasn't done squat and this is STILL a big problem for everyone!  I wouldn't even try to call them as someone in Indonesia or India will answer and will have no clue what you're talking about.  This company is a complete scam and I'm looking for another system.  I'm very much looking forward to taking a sledge hammer to this garbage.
