Arlo Pro 3 stopped recording

My trial Arlo smart subscription ended and now my camera stopped recording. I still get notifications on my phone when the zone is entered, but it no longer records anything. Arlo Support told me I need the subscription to record. All of the Arlo support documents and manuals do not say anything about a mandatory subscription for this to function. When this camera triggers, I’d like to be able to check and see why, particularly late at night. Any help is appreciated.

FWIW, the box itself did say that a subscription was required (though on some packaging it is in fine print).  It's also documented here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062312/What-options-will-I-have-when-the-Arlo-Smart-3-month-trial-plan-ends

 

What base station do you have?  If you have a VMB4540 or a VMB5000, then direct access to local storage might be an option for you. https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it

 

There are several limitations - lack of thumbnails, no access from friend accounts, no access from the web page among them.

Thanks for the info. I did see this but it does say “ local recording” still works. I assumed that meant on my phone like all other Arlo cameras but it only gives me a notification, no recording.
