Will the 24/7 footage be saved to my USB drive as well as the cloud? Only available with CVR sub?

Hi, just a quick one really as I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.
So I’ve setup the base and the camera. Camera has power supply connected as required for CVR.
USB is connected to the base and can be seen, all ready to go.
I can’t see the option for CVR. So my question(s)....
Does this only become available with the CVR subscription?
Will the 24/7 footage be saved to my USB drive as well as the cloud?
My understanding was that CVR activated when power supply was plugged into camera and naturally you would need to have a usb drive connected to store footage. It’s unclear online as to weather this is the case or not.
Thank you,

You can subscribe to the extra cost CVR option at any time. AT that point you can select what camera(s) will be used. Local storage isn't possible, partly because of the huge data storage issues and mostly because Arlo is cloud-based. Once you've subscribed and added at least one camera to CVR, you can see the video by clicking on the partial clock icon for the camera in the Devices tab.
