I just picked up an Arlo Pro 2 kit with an additional two Arlo Lights for my home.

Previously I had the original Arlo cameras and base station, which worked completely fine!

Unfortunately, I am completely unable to add any cameras to the base station. I actually had some trouble connecting the base station, but after several restarts and factory resets, I got it to connect. I was also able to add the Arlo Light Hub and Arlo Lights without issue (yay)!

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch Arlo app
  2. Click Add a Device
  3. Click Cameras
  4. Click Pro
  5. Click Pro 2
  6. Once it detects my base station, click Continue
  7. Click Continue on battery screen
  8. Press the Sync button on the Arlo camera (the blue light does start flashing)

Expected: The app will discover my device and add it to the system

Actual: The app just says "Discovering your device. Please wait. until it times out.

The same occurs when trying to add original Arlo cameras (obviously selecting that option).

I have tried the below, none with any success:

  • Restarting base station
  • Factory reset base station
  • Restarting phone
  • Removing/reinstalling camera batteries
  • Restarting Wifi
  • Restarting phone
  • Logging out / logging in to app
  • Uninstall/reinstall app
  • Moving camera closer to base station
  • Moving camera further from base station
  • Pressing sync on base station, then sync on camera

Environment details:

  • Google Wifi
  • iPhone X
  • VMB4000 Base Station
  • I am able to see the VMB4000's wifi SSID broadcasting

Thanks for any help, I am at a complete loss as to what the problem could be!

Try adding the cameras using the web interface ( https://my.arlo.com )

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did try doing it through the web interface, but it seems the web interface is just giving instructions on how to hit the sync button on the base station, then the camera.

Still, going that route ends up the same - it seems that it just can’t pick up the cameras.

Maybe it's time to try support next: https://www.arlo.com/en-us/support/contact.aspx

Or just exchange the new kit with the seller.

Yep - I submitted a support ticket last night as well.
