Should the LED be on or off on Arlo Pro 2? What's the purpose?

Should the LED be on or off? We have it on is that the reason it videos bugs flying all around it like a fog at night? Will it still video if we shut it off? What is its purpose?

Which LED?

 

If it is the blue one that denotes a fully charged battery on "main" power, then you can turn that off.
