Are the USB Ports on the Pro 2 Base USB 2.0 or USB 3.0? Is there a special way that the thumb drives need to be formatted or used or do I just plug it into the Base and it automatically records to the thumb drive as well as the Arlo cloud?

Plug it into the base. Go into your app and turn on the USB backup facility. Format the drive through the app. Enable to function to record over the oldest video when the drive is full (if you want)

And the ports are USB2.x. The data rate for even multiple cameras don't require USB3 speeds.
