Hi all, I am extremely familiar with camera systems and positioning for different situations. I have read other posts and believe I found the answer but i guess im simply looking for confirmation if this is true.

Camera is set up in front of house to monitor driveway and street traffic. Flag is waving in the wind setting motion off, I attempted to screen out but I was told and read unless this is physically plugged into hard power screening wont work which will result in constant false alarms.

Thanks in advance.

That's true if you have no subscriptions. A subscription to Smart or a plan that also includes Smart allows the video to be post-processed by the servers to determine if a notification should be made. Note that the camera must record a video and send it off for this to happen, unlike the AC-powered zones, so battery will be consumed regardless. A better plan would be to remove the flag from the camera's view by repositioning unless that's really not possible.

Thanks for the reply. Understood on the battery consumtion part. I had thought Arlo had figured this out which was why the system was so inticing. Sounds like battery life is still an issue. So if one decided to ge the subscription and considerations taken with battery life how long would the battery last?

"It depends." (TM)

Like any battery-powered camera, the amount of activity will determine battery life. Spec battery life is for <5 minutes of recording and live view per day. If your camera positioning is aimed at the area of real concern and not the street or sky you should have good results. Of course, waving branches/leaves, flags, etc. all affect this so positioning and sensitivity settings are important.
