Just so I understand and I am not looking at a potential problem...
Given problems with AT&T (now resolved), if we lose internet and/or connectivity then the base goes down? The ability to store local isn't going to work?
And only way to store local clips is to purchase a subscription?
To store locally continuous video will require a subscription as well?

I've tested the no internet option...
I run my router, modem and base on their own UPS for power issues. The whole trick is keeping the base alive, if base is down , there's nothing.
In prev test, I armed the system and then unhooked Internet. The system still recorded motion detect locally to the speed stick.
The is no upload to the cloud when internet is restored, but I knew that.

I don't exactly want video uploaded, that is a lot of data.
Do you have a subscription? How did you get it to start saving locally?

If you have the system ARMED and remove internet, then there is no data upload only the local usb backup will occur. Problem with this is Arlo is a cloud based system and without internet you have no way to control the sysytem.
As to how, it is fairly simple with a Pro or Pro2 base ( model 4000 )... just add a speedstick to one of the rear USB port and toggle backup in settings. Any triggered event is send to the cloud and the backup at the same time ( obv if no internet the back recording will continue ).
Other issue is you can not read this backdrive directly from inside of the Arlo prgm... you must eject the speed stick and then use an external prgm to read videos. ( VLC is free and works well )
