I just started getting a hardware limit reached message. I have 4 cameras. This is my only account. It's worked fine until recently. Seems like there's an issue with software.

Never heard of a hardware limit. Post a screenshot of the error message.

Sorry for the late response. I got frustrated and gave up. I still get this message every time I login. I have 4 camera. I thought 5 was the limit without a subscription.

It is.  Plus the system will let you add more than 5 cameras - you lose features (until you get a subscription), but the system will let you add them.

I've never seen this particular error, and there certainly are folks using your base with 4 or more cameras.

One thing you could try is removing all the cameras (and base) from your account.  Then do a factory reset of the base, and add everything back. https://kb.arlo.com/1057976/How-can-I-reset-my-Arlo-SmartHub-or-base-station-to-the-default-values
