Does Pro 2.0 now need a subscription to record?

I haven't used my cameras in a while.  I just powered them on and it's telling me I need to upgrade to take advantage of timeline recording.   The plan is $9.99 a month per camera, no way I'm paying that.  Can I still record with my Pro 2 like I used to free of charge?

Arlo does encourage you to purchase a subscription plan that you don’t need.

 

The pro2 cameras still retains the 7days free cloud storage.
