Color dots on Android App Icons?

There seems to be an increasing number of problems with my Arlo cameras. Now I have an unidentified purplish/red dot on my Arlo App that sits on my home screen. I open the app to see if there is a matching dot but nothing? This appeared after a 24 hour period of no camera captures (and I normally get dozens a day) or notifications.
