I still use a base station with my Pro 2 & 3 cameras. Lately they have been timing out or freezing up so I called in and received a call back from tech support who told me that my cameras and base need to be updated but for him to do that I will have to pay him $279. This is appalling. What am I paying monthly for if I have to pay for updates just to keep using the cameras that already cost a lot of money. Has anyone encountered this?

You reached a scam support site- likely you googled for a phone number.
You need to use the support area in the app to reach Arlo support.
If you have a subscription, you will see a phone option there.
