How long is the recording delay on the pro 2 compared to the original Arlo camera?

Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2 pretty much start recording as soon as the motion occurs in front of the camera. It's only the original Arlo HD that has quite a significant lag between motion and the recording starting

Is the Pro 2 running on battery or plugged in with the cord?

Be aware that the P2 on AC power uses a combination of PIR and pixel detection which may be the reason for this.
