Firmware 1.092.1.0_9_120d8b7 / Serial number: Edit

It was so easy to setup automation through the previous application. I cannot manage to set it up properly now with so many rules, modes, routines you invented! It states "when and how I want to do it" but reality is not the same. It is now extremely complicated. Is there anyone who can help or simplify this application?

Note this is a user-to-user forum and I don't work for Arlo.

Can you give us details on when you want your cameras armed and disarmed? (full schedule information, plus geofencing if you use that).

Hello, thank you for your kind consideration.

Basically, what I would like to do as automation is that:

  • All cameras active between 00:00 - 06:00 with recording and notification
  • All cameras inactive between 06:01 - 23:59
  • Some specific days, only 1 camera active between 06:01 - 23:59 with recording only

Also, I would like to be able to manually:

  • Activate (or inactivate) all cameras with recording and notification (i.e. when leaving for (or returning from) vacation etc.

What confuses me also is "Sunrise", "Sunset" options after setting up "hours"?? any idea about it?

Thanks very much.

Those are just times, as many people do want to enable cameras at sunset and disable them at sunrise.

Each of the modes provides a combination of cameras that are armed when that mode is active.  With this setup, you need to use all three modes.  So start by

  1. making sure "Arm Away" arms all your cameras - there should a rule for each camera that specifies recording+notification
  2. making sure "Standby' disarms all your cameras - no rules for any cameras
  3. modifying "Arm Home" so it only arms the one camera (the rule needs to have recording but no notification).

Then set up the schedule automations:

  1. One to change the mode to Standby at 6 am on the days when you want no cameras armed
  2. One to change the mode to Arm Home at 6 am on the days when you want only one camera armed
  3. One to change the mode to Arm Away at midnight everyday.

When leaving, you will need to first disable the schedule automations in all the modes (no need to delete the automations, you just need to disable them).  Then go to the dashboard screen and change the mode to "Arm Away".  It will stay that way until you change it.

When arriving, you re-enable the schedule automations, and then change the mode manually to the one you want on the dashboard screen.  The schedule will kick in as the automations run (at the next midnight and 6 am)
