Arlo Pro 2 - What's the wireless protocol used between the camera and the base station?

I'm trying to determine the best location to put the base station. Right now it's wired to my network. What's the protocol used for the cameras to the base station? Is it wifi or something else? Does the Pro 2 have distance limits on where to place them from the station?

All Arlo wireless cameras use 2.4GHz WiFi to communicate with the base. The same restrictions as before applies to the P2 cameras.
