I have a Arlo Pro 2 with 2 cameras. I found a set of used Arlo Pro cameras with a base. Can I just add them 2 Pro cameras to my current Pro 2 system like add on's and throw the base In the closet or do I have to use that base with them? I just want to use the 2 cameras.

You don't need to use the second base. You can just add the 2 Pro's to your existing system.
If some of your cameras are far from the base then you could add the second base in a location closer to the far cameras to give you a better signal.

Ensure the seller of the old system has removed the cameras and base from their account before they did a factory reset ready for sale.
Generally, it's much easier to just sync the Pro cameras to your base station but as above, a second base is handy if you need better coverage due to distance. If you eventually want to run more than 5 cameras, the second base can also be handy if you don't want to upgrade your subscription level
