The original Arlo Pro had a small delay between detecting motion and recording. Does the 3 second pre-record ensure that you have adequate footage of the person activating the motion detection?

Does the 3 second pre-record require the camera to be powered from power adapter or can just the battery be used?

Yes... just like the Q camera

Yes the cam must be ac powered for the 3 second preview, will not work on battery

( in effect, the cam when on ac is recording all the time and adds the last 3 seconds to the front of the trigger event )

Can the Arlo Pro 1 series also do the 3 second pre-record if power is hard wired?

The ability to "declare a motion event" rather than recognizing motion and then starting up the camera is a distinct advantage of a powered camera.  Constant Video Recording can do the same thing for the same reason, but they keep the video that is recorded outside of motion events as well as the video recorded during motion events.

But ditto the "no" for Arlo Pro (1).  Power is required, but the camera must also be designed to take advantage of the power when it is there.  The orginal Arlo Pro camera didn't include this feature.
