How to set up an Arlo Q or Arlo Q Plus Camera

To set up an Arlo Q or Arlo Q Plus Camera:

  1. Launch the Arlo Secure App.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Add New Device.
  3. On the Select your Arlo device screen, tap Cameras.
  4. On the Select your Arlo model screen, tap Others.
  5. On the Legacy screen, tap Q & Q Plus.
  6. On the Select your connection type screen, tap Wi-Fi, Ethernet (Q Plus Only), or PoE (Q Plus Only).

Note: The Ethernet and PoE options are for Arlo Q Plus only. For more information on Ethernet and PoE connections, visit: What is the difference between Arlo Q Plus PoE and Ethernet?

  1. For Wi-Fi connections, power your camera by plugging it into a wall outlet.
  2. When the LED light turns solid amber, tap Continue.

Note: Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Wi-Fi router during the setup process. Avoid placing the camera within close proximity to other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process.

  1. Enter your Wi-Fi credentials, to include SSID (network name) and Wi-Fi password.
  2. Tap Continue.
  3. Hold the Sync button on your camera for about two seconds, and then release. 
  • The Blue LED will start blinking to confirm it is ready.
  1. Tap Continue.
  2. Hold the QR code about eight inches in front of your camera.
  1. Tap Continue.
  1. After Arlo discovers your device, select an Arlo Camera to claim from the Available Devices list.

Note: Verify the Serial Number displayed in the list matches the Serial Number on the bottom of your camera.

  1. Type a name for your Arlo device.
  2. Tap Continue.
  • Your camera is now active.
  1. Tap Finish.
