Why doesn't ARLO offer an Upgrade/Promotional Buyback program? I'm a relatively new customer and yes I know the new cameras are backward compatible with whAt I have but I would like and could really use some of the new features for all my cameras.
ARLO PLEASE consider putting together a program to help out all your customers that have older equipment. Buying the newer cameras and base station to get some of the needed capabilites and functions is just not affordable for me.

Sometimes it is not clear if the app is connected to the camera directly, or if the content goes over cloud.
Would be nice if there was a simple way to check it (or a visual indicator to see it).

Never mix up your cameras again! I'm sure we all have removed our cameras to charge them and when we placed them back in their locations we may have placed the wrong camera in the wrong spot! Sure, we could go back onto our Arlo app and swap the names around or take down the cameras that we just placed high up on our house - but why if you could avoid mixing them up to begin with?! 🙂 This would allow room for a small push compartment under the camera to place a label so you know where your camera belongs! Never mix up your cameras again!

I've seen the request for battery % on the summary screen. Originally % was available on the devices page. Perhaps as an optimization for data fetches in the solution architecture at the expense of customer ease-of-use this was removed and hasn't come back on the iOS app. HOWEVER... what would be extremely helpful is a way to sort the cameras by battery % (least to greatest). This feature could manifest itself as a sort option on the Devices page (best) or by some other means. This allows one to be given a priority on which camera to charge next instead of requiring one to need to actively check each device separately.

(Dear Arlo - please don't move this to another topic again. This is NOT really about alerts when offline.
It's MAINLY about the cameras' batteries draining when the base goes offline. Please read in it's entirety.)
So this happens now and again - my base station goes offline. I assume it's when a firmware update is pushed out and crashes my base station.
My issue is that when the base station goes offline, the cameras drain their batteries trying to reconnect.
This last time, the base station went offline around 10:30am pacific time on the 6th May. Perhaps someone from Arlo can confirm if that was a firmware update? Or tell me how I can check that myself?
I didn't realise until late on the 7th. (Thankfully I have other cameras, because I know I can't rely on this system yet.) (Also thankfully I'm at home. When this happens while I'm away, there's nothing I can do... Big fail for a security system.) Power cycling the base station only served to show me the cameras all offline. Sometimes rebooting the base station a few times brings some cameras back online, but not this time. Clearly the batteries were all drained. It was too late at night to be getting ladders out and swapping batteries, so that's what I'm doing today. Thankfully I have rechargeable batteries, otherwise Arlo would be getting a big bill for new ones! And I have confirmed that the batteries are all dead - power cycling the cameras does nothing.
Here are suggestions. I hope Arlo are listening. They are pretty basic requirements of a security system.
When a camera detects the base station is offline, it goes into a low power mode. Instead of draining its batteries by continuously trying to reconnect, have it try once every minute for the first 10 minutes, then once every 10 minutes for the next hour, then once every 30 minutes. That way, when the base station can be physically power cycled when the owner returns home (note that this usually can't be done remotely as the base station is offline), the cameras will hopefully still have some battery power left.
When the base station goes offline:
Have the base station AUTOMATICALLY power cycle itself say every 20 minutes until it reconnects. That way if I can't get to the base station for a week, it doesn't render the entire system USELESS!
SEND ME A NOTIFICATION. Pretty please. The cloud knows. If I open the app, it knows. If a security system goes completely offline, it should trigger a panic mode 😱 where it sends not only repeated push notifications, but also texts and emails.
When a camera goes offline:
Automatically try to reconnect, and go into a low power mode.
p.s. thank you for finally ditching flash...

I believe this has probably been recommended already. I would like to see the Spotlight be an option by mode. For example, I have the "Armed” mode scheduled to be active between 11pm and 5am. Since these are the hours no one should be walking around my house, I would like the spotlight to turn on when motion I detected. But, at other times, say 6pm to 11pm, when my family and friends are likely to be walking around the house, I would like to run a different mode that doesn't trigger the spotlight when motion is detected. I don't want to annoy people with the bright light in times "friendlies” are typically coming and going, but want to annoy anyone whose walking around the house at questionable and unlikely times.

It would be quite convenient if you would consider making a twin line power supply accessory for the Security Light and various Wire Free Cameras. For my front porch I do not need an add on light as I have a porch fixture with motion detection. However for the out side cameras I have one Arlo Pro 2 wire free camera and am planning on adding one Arlo Security light next to it. It would be nice to have the ability to power both from one electrical module instead of having to run two power cords to and outlet.
In doing so it would be simple to customize the lights plugin to the same one as the existing cameras in the same location. This would provide several advantages. The next generation light could like the cameras have additional features only available with wired power such as brighter lighting, adjustable lighting for better range etc.
A dual feed powerfully would also be useful for placing more cameras. It would be nice to be able to put two cameras in a corner location with each pointing to the needed direction, providing less wiring, more features and usability to your customers.

Anyway we can get an option to have brightness to increase when motion is detected? Currently you can select to leave light on whole time but can we set that to also when motion is detected it’ll increase brightness to XX of brightness. Thanks.

I HAVE a plugged in unit and would be nice to be able to have the light stay on when I want it to. You can turn it on briefly with the app, but as soon as you use another app, the light goes out.

Below the line (bottom of this post) is a reply from Arlo Moderator ShayneS on an issue that I posted on the community boards (I also got the same reply from support, who suggested posting it here) ....
Here is a link to that discussion which explains the issue better and you should read (only 10 posts)... https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Ultra/Cross-triggering-will-activate-lights-amp-cameras-but-not-save/td-p/1786647
This problem (or non-feature) really needs to be fixed as it is mentioned nowhere in the Arlo product info and therefore that info becomes very misleading.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi @KachinaShadow
As you noted above "What I did confirm was that ALL cameras can be triggered by ALL devices but ANY CAMERA THAT HAS "ACTIVITY ZONES" SET, even though triggered, WILL NOT SAVE THE RECORDING TO THE LIBRARY/CLOUD"
This is feature is by design, if you would like to have the recordings saved to the library you will need to remove the activity zones.

New product. Using the basic Arlo Security light as a form factor, replace multi-colored LEDs with near-IR to light up the subject of most concern...car, door, gate, etc. This allows covered target to SHINE in BRILLIANT IR undetectable by humans without night-vision goggles (and then they'd be momentarily blinded).
With inexpensive IR LED flashlights, subjects really SHINE in IR cameras. It's like a cat or dog or wolf with a flashlight. Why not call it "Night Bright"?

I have two Arlo lights and they are hardwired so I am not worried about battery time, I would like the option to set them for 5 minutes for motion vs. 120 seconds. My power went out and I turned The light to constant on and it ran for 3 hours on high and only consumed 25% of battery so it seems there is another power to support a couple more minutes of run time even on battery.

have an option to set the light to quick flashing red and blue light if motion detected and/or quick amber flashing light. Or to be able to quickly turn on emergency feature red/blue light remotely if suspicious activity detected/seen . Could definitely scare a thief!

It’ll be awesome if the light can be enabled to stay on from dusk to dawn. Will definitely be another great security feature and will bring more value to this light.

This really doesn’t apply specifically to the model I specified. It is more applicable towards the app. I have the “Arlo 2 camera HD Security System” with VMB3010R2 base and 2 H7 cameras. I use the Arlo iPhone app v2.7.7 (56). When the app indicates low battery, I tried to find somewhere on the app what size battery the camera takes and how many. The app knows my base and the camera used and tells me the low battery but no information on battery size and quantity I need to get. The app should be able to give me that information as it knows the cameras in use, right? I was at the hardware store and remembered needing batteries. But with my app I couldn’t get the battery info or how many I need. Seems like this would be an obvious customer need the app can provide, battery type and quantity, and provide it in the Camera’s Device Settings or Device Info page. Too me it’s antiquated (old school) to open the battery door of the camera to determine this information.

I have both Arlo Pro cameras and security lights, which overall have worked great. But a key missing feature is duplicate alert suppression. Basically, I want to get only one (1) of the same alerts within a configurable window of time (e.g., 5 minutes). That way, for example, I would get only one message during the time I'm letting our several dogs out to relieve themselves.
This features is commonly found in data center logging controls.

Hi,
I just bought a set a set of Arlo Security lights to use with my Arlo Q, with the hope that it would give me the best of both options, PIR and pixel detection, when needed. After getting the Security lights setup, I discovered that despite the claim that they work with all Arlo cameras the lights can’t be setup to trigger an Arlo Q. Further research found the following from an Arlo troubleshooting article the app sent me too: “ Cross-triggering currently does not work with Arlo Q, Arlo Q Plus, Arlo Go, or Arlo Baby cameras. All cross-triggering devices must be connected to the same Arlo account.”
So does anyone know if and/or when Arlo will be adding cross triggering support for the Q cameras? I’d like to keep the lights, but if they can’t be used to trigger my Q cameras, not much point in spending the premium over a regular motion light.
Thanks!

It would be very cool for a camera being able to walk/rove around the house. Maybe there could be a sonar attached so it won't run into anything. Suction cups on treads maybe and 360º view.
