Manual Deletion of Recycle Bin

Please allow us this option.

If the concern is that you want to protect a user's recordings, where an unauthorized user is looing to permanently delete "evidence", then perhaps you could incorportate a two-step verification to empty the recycle bin.  For example, use Google Authenticator on a user's mobile device that prompts for a code every time a user attempts to empty the recycle bin.

Thanks in advance for the consideration.

How do I view contents of the recycle bin

Shiloh,

This will vary slightly depending on the device you are using. On the web ui the recycle bin is located in the library. On Android and iOS the recycle bin is located under Settings and Subscription.

I hope this helps!

I have 12 Arlo cameras and the functions such as being able to delete recording is gone!  I am very disappointed and do not have the time to deal with each recording on a one by one basis.  This is a terrible update and wish I could go back to previous version.  Please restore this function or I will be returning all 12 of my cameras.  Also, not being able to see at a glance how much battery time is left for each camera is also a function I relied on to keep my system going.  Please restore these functions ASAP so I can continue to be a happy customer of Arlo.

Thank you for updating the functions to include the battery life.  It is very much appreciated!

I would still please request that you review putting back the recycle bin back as I have 12 cameras and the videos fill up so fast I can barely keep on top of them.

Thank you, in advance, for making these changes!

Your feedback on this is appreciated. The recycling bin has been removed so videos you no longer need can be permanently deleted in just one simple step, and there’s no need to worry about manually managing previously deleted videos.

James,

Let me see if I understand the logic behind the method you describe:

Before the UI upgrade a recording that was stored in the Library, which I deleted daily, was also in the icloud, from which one can recycle back a clip after it has been deleted from the library perhaps by mistake, or one was able to manually clear that icloud storage content, so, as some users worry, there is no clip stored in any place after deleting fron there as well to avoid exposure to hacking.

The new procedure, as explained, records a clip on the library and once the clip is deleted on the library, it says, no maintenance of clips on the icloud would be necessary because they are also deleted from there when the library deletion is done by the user?

In other words the library maintenance of clips is in sync with the icloud automatically, but the system still uses the icloud as before? how?

Is this what it actually happens?

However, although the new method facilitates the libray and recycle bin icloud double deletion action with a single library delete it hinders the possibilty of recalling a clip that was deleted from the library by mistake, and now is not even on the icloud for it to be recalled?

Please explain in detail how such scenario could take place now.

Thanks,

I was looking for the recycle bin only to find that it is no longer available. I have been deleting my videos believing that I could always go to the recycle bin if I wanted to retrieve them later. I would have been great if you had informed me that you were getting rid of it prior to doing so. PLEASE bring it back!!

I understand that some users previously requested a one-click permanent delete options, but there are plenty of posts and replies within the communities about the removal of the recycle bin to allow users to retrieve accidentally deleted videos.

It would be ideal to bring back the recycle bin but allow a system preference to enable/disable the Recycle Bin/One-click permanaent delete capability so that users could use the system based on their own preference/workflow.
