Arlo Doorbell camera

Hi there,

there is a product that I nearly purchased, sent to me from iPhone magazine, it's called "Skybell WIFI Doorbell"

Which is obviously a doorbell with a camera that communicates with your router & smartphone, and not only can you see the person, you can talk to them too. Plus it was waterproof. I thought I really want something like that, but what stopped me buying it was it was not totally wireless like the Arlo systems I have bought. It needs to connect to a physical power source, not battery powered, so given that total wireless was the main reason for my netgear Arlo purchases, I couldn't buy that doorbell system.

I really hope that Netgear and their Arlo team come to up with something similar, as I would definitely buy one if it was available.

Cheers

Ross

(1) Because Arlo hasn't made an official announcement I interpreted that to be speculative.

(2) The article only refers to products being released in Australia

I came so close to switching to Blink XT system because they have a wireless doorbell cam coming out. Please, Arlo. We have waited long enough for a wireless doorbell cam that doesn’t suck. Thanks

I am teetering on buying a Blink system because of the doorbell.  Arlo you really should make an announcement soon if that's something on the way.

Please Please!

I think the only option at the moment is to build a little enclosue for the camera and have it down lower at head height inside my porch. That way you cant just pull it off the magnetic base as it will be bolted to the door. Why they did not incorporate a kensington lock on my mk1 system is anyones guess??? Having said that you can bolt a tether to the bottom if using the magnet mount. People will think twice then as they will be on video trying to rip it off the door!

No two way sound though as that would suffice for me as I can communicate with the delivery person or burgalar, like I can on my cheaper Maisi cameras. As much as a doorbell would be handy, that performs a similar function for me. Arming the one camera all the time would also be handy, seperately of the main system. I have seen there is a post for this but not looked. Is it possible?

Back to Ring, I was at a wedding at the weekend and the photographers have smart watches. They both looked at thier watches at te same time and the Ring app popped up, with a live video of someone at thier door. How amazing is that, especially if the watch had 4g and did not need venue wifi. Netgear, build a doorbell and sell an 'all in' intergrated security system package with a smart watch deal too. this would be very popular with private and business users alike!

I am very happy with the email notification system actually, its very accurate as I dont get many visitors and it always spots them and sends me a snapshot by email. I was a little confused at one the other day, turned out that a crow had landed on my camera LOL.

It would be great if you had a doorbell camera similar to Ring! I want one but not thrilled about the idea of having two different systems. Give it some serious thought. I think it would be a popular item.

Also looking for a Doorbell Arlo. Or is there any other way so that the Arlo videofeed pops up as soon as someone rings?

People were probably expecting an actual video doorbell. Arlo is going to release a doorbell + chime which compliments the existing video system. https://www.arlo.com/en-us/products/doorbell/announcement.html

If I'm reading this correctly you have to purchase an Arlo camera and a separate Arlo doorbell to do the same thing one Ring Doorbell or one Skybell does? I like my Arlo cameras and I hate having two different systems, but I'll stick with my Ring at the front door.
