I would like to request a software fix to allow local video recordings to be accessible beyond 7 days as long as you have recordings. I think it's a limitation put in place to encourage the paid cloud plan but it's honestly unnecessary to limit it via software when the capability is there.
If I have a 32 GB micro SD that is capable of storing over 30 days worth of video recordings then I should be able to access any recording via the Arlo App during this time. Limiting this to 7 days is not helpful when I need to refer back to a recording that happened before that given new future information.
Respectfully request this update is passed to the developers for consideration because it doesn't make sense to purposefully limit this capability.

I have a subscription so can't verify what you're saying. There would seem to be no reason you can't see any day's recordings from the app, regardless of date. Are you sure you're not viewing the cloud recordings? At the very least you can safely eject the drive to view on a computer but I see no reason use of the app wouldn't work. What phone and OS?

@jguerdat That's correct, I don't have a subscription BUT now that you say it, I'm sure I'm not actually streaming it from the SD card on the Arlo Go via 4G on my iPhone but the video recording it saved in the cloud for viewing ONLY the last 7 days on Arlo servers.
There's no way the speed would be fast enough or reliable enough to stream from the camera on demand via 4G connectivity. Arlo more than likely saves your last 7 days in the cloud for viewing and deletes the cloud copy of the video over a 7 day period, therefore only the last 7 days are viewable from the app.
Technically if I wanted to view further back in time, I would need to retrieve the SD card from the camera and download to my laptop - inconvenient IMO. There's got to be a better technical solution to access prior videos without having to download directly from the SD card.
