Hi,

I have the arlo VBM4000 with 4 arlo go 2 cameras. They are quite a few years old and still working fine but since I bought the system, the push to talk is barely audible when I'm trying to talk to someone from the app to the camera. I've never looked into this problem until I decided I wanted to buy the doorbell and I'm hoping the doorbell audio works a whole lot better than the audio on the cameras. I can hear someone talking back to me but they cannot hear my voice coming out of the camera. If there's a fix for this I'll buy the doorbell. Or if anyone has the doorbell and could give me their input on it it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

firmware on the cameras 1.125.17.1_11_de84490d

firmware on the smarthub/base sation- 1.26.0.0_4712_12a0681

VBM4000r3

all cameras are connecte wireless

PS this problem has existed since I bouth the cameras years ago!

The base used has no effect on this. You could connect the doorbell to your WiFi and it would seem that you would have the same issue.

Note that the volume from any of the Arlo devices is not terribly loud but should be able to be heard clearly as long as the ambient environment isn't particularly noisy. If your voice is not clearly heard at any camera, it could be your phone settings that are the issue. Obviously the phone mic is enabled but there may be a volume control to adjust. Does it make a difference if you hold the phone mic close to your mouth or speak louder? What is the distance between the camera and the person being spoken to (since a large distance can't be overcome)?

Whhat phone and OS version?

I think you must have Arlo Pro 2 cameras, and not "Go 2" cameras.  The Arlo Go 2 cameras can connect to your home wifi, but are not compatible with Arlo hubs.

It'd be helpful if you can confirm the camera model.

Thank you for your response! I use a Galaxy 23S. I've been through a few phones since I've had this system and I've always had the same problem I've tried practically screaming into the phone with someone standing right under the camera to test it. Unless your ear is very near to the camera you can't hear or understand what I'm saying. I'll check my phone to see if there's some kind of volume controls but I've tried everything.

There is a speaker volume control for the camera in the device settings.  So first make sure that is set to 100%.

But I have seen similar reports from folks using various Galaxy phones.
