why wont my new essential doorbell and 2K wireless camera record?

I bought my system 6 years ago. I recently added an Essential wired doorbell and replaced an original camera with a new Essential 2k camera. But these two cameras wont record events "per schedule" as my older original Arlo cameras do. Im wondering if Alro changed the software so that you have to subscribe to a service for those newer cameras to record?
