Hello everyone, I have a 3 year old system with pro 2 cameras and I had to replace 1 camera after it died. replaced with a spot light camera VMC2030. accordibg to the box it will work with my base station and it has for about 90 days and now wont record. all others work as intended. i have a VMB4500 base station with local recordings that works just fine except with tge new camera. why has this changed? is Arlo trying to sell me a plan? how do i fix this?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much

Arlo Pro 2 cameras were sold with 7-days of free cloud recording, which Arlo still provides.

The VMC2030 requires a subscription to get any cloud recording.  All newer models (starting with the Ultra back in 2018) need a subscription for that.

A lot of people with the older bases assume that they are seeing locally stored recordings from the app and web browser.

That is actually not the case.  All the recordings you see are stored in the Arlo Cloud.  The only way to view local recordings with VMB4500 and older bases is to remove the USB drive and connect it to a PC.

I have never had a subscription just a decent size usb storage device and have never had a problem until 90 days after I installed the new camera. I am not that savvy on these camera systems but not happy about what I was sold. What are my options on getting this back to the way it has been working all this time? I am not gonna pay for a subscription.
thanks for the help.

The only way to retain the same features you previously had with the pro2 setup would be do a like for like replacement.

The Pro2 cameras are no longer retailed by arlo, not sure if they can give you repaired unit as you would need subscription to ask them.

One option is to look for any refurbished units on eBay, taking a risk though.

They are still IMHO the best product around for basic features hence the push for EOL by arlo.
