Question, is the Arlo Essential compatible with an existing Arlo pro 2 system, meaning can I go into my existing base station (through the App) and add this camera?

Yes, if you have the VMB4000 you listed. You can check what cams are compatible with each base/hub. 

What is the difference between each Arlo SmartHub and base station?
