I purchased a new camera but it doesn’t want to hook up on 5g and I can’t make the modem run at 2.4 g

It is an Archer VR1600 Ver2.0.

Per the 1.0 manual, you can disable the 5 ghz wifi from the router's web ui. See page 75 here:
Likely this is done the same way with version 2.0.
You can re-enable 5 ghz wifi after you succeed in onboarding.
Security needs to be set to WPA2 (you might just see WPA/WPA2 Personal in your router settings). Punctuation in the network name (SSID) and password can sometimes get in the way, so if you use punctuation in them you might need to remove it.
