Arlo Essential Video Recordings without subscription

I have one Arlo Essential and i am looking to maybe get one more, however I don't want to subscribe but still have recording saved even if it for one day, to give me the chance to review and download, just like a can with a Canary camera I have. I am concerned that this is not possible, which is a shame as i like the the Arlo product but don't want to be forced to take a subscription just to have a basic function of stored recordings.

My question is if my reasoning is correct, can I still have access to recordings without a subscription? even if its for 1 week or 1 day.
