Alerts on iphone

On the old app I would receive alerts on my iPhone but as soon as I viewed the videos the alert ‘number’ would reset on the app icon allowing me to see if there was a new alert if my phone was muted. On the updated app it just keeps the total number of alerts. How do I get it to reset without deleting the videos in my library?

Can you please make sure all software is up to date.
