Secure your property and let the sun do the charging. The Integrated Solar Panel and high-capacity battery will keep your battery fully charged and camera powered up to 6 months without sunlight, protecting you all winter long.

With as little as two hours of sunlight, under normal usage and settings, Arlo Essential Solar Security Camera will maintain a charge and stay powered, allowing you to leave the ladder in the garage.

The Arlo Essential Solar Security Camera dominates the competition with a larger battery, a more powerful solar panel and Dual-band Wi-Fi.

  • Integrated Solar Panel: Keeps your camera charged, with a fully charged battery lasting up to 6 months even without sunlight.
  • Dual-Band Wi-Fi: Automatically switches to the strongest Wi-Fi connection to keep you protected.
  • Event Captions: Smart, concise video descriptions you can quickly scan without having to watch every video.
  • Personalized Alerts: Teach your camera to alert you when a gate or garage door is left open with Custom Detections.
  • IP65 Weather-Resistant: Built to withstand heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Easy DIY Install: Set up without wires and let the sun do the charging.

Is there a way to mount this on a gutter since we need sun exposure? And will it work with a base station or just an app? I have a legacy base station vb3000 now.

chasworth,

Arlo Essential Solar Security Camera uses a standard 1/4"-20 threaded screw insert allowing you to utilize the included mount or your own third-party mounting solution. For more information on this, see here: https://kb.arlo.com/000063749/How-to-mount-the-Arlo-Essential-Solar-Security-Camera

When connecting your Arlo Essential Solar Security Camera, you can onboard directly to your home WiFi or to a compatible SmartHub (VMB4540 or VMB5000), for more info, see here: https://kb.arlo.com/000063748/How-to-set-up-and-install-the-Arlo-Essential-Solar-Security-Camera

Thanks James. Good that this section is monitored by knowledgeable people. I have a house in Florida but live mostly in Ct. I am thinking of buying some updated camera products (was looking at Eufy) but see that Arlo is having a good sale. I want to be able to see the 10-15 second clips I now get from my old Arlo 4 lithium Tenergy powered battery cameras. I have  2 inside the house not near outlets so battery works best, and a plug in camera for the garage. The two cameras mounted outside on front and rear gutters are a pain to "ladder up" as the new ads say. I will replace those with 2 solar essentials. Probably grab a doorbell on sale too.  Any legacy cameras that don't pair with the VB500, I can add new replacements. Hopefully I can still monitor the Florida property from Ct. Charles

Arlo Essential Solar Security Cameras are designed to detect motion and capture 10-15 second recordings, much like the legacy devices you're used to using. However, they do require a subscription plan for recordings to be saved to the cloud. You can take a look at subscription plans on arlo.com for details on all the great benefits you receive in addition to cloud recordings. When subscribing to an unlimited plan, all of your devices at that location receive the benefits, including your legacy devices.

VMB4540 and VMB5000 Smarthubs will be compatible with your original Arlo Wire-Free cameras as well as the new Arlo Essential Solar Security Cameras. See here for full compatibility details on each Base Station/SmartHub: https://kb.arlo.com/000062284/Arlo-SmartHub-and-Base-Station-Compatibility

This is great to hear; I just ordered most of the system on sale at the Florida house: a new base vb5000, 2 new solars that hopefully will be attached to my gutters front and rear for sun exposure, and a new tilt swivel wired to use to monitor the car and battery tender in the garage. I will leave the 2 legacy Tenergy battery cameras inside, one looks to the front door and one looks to the lanai; I have been lucky and they last about 6 months before a simple battery change needed. The ones on the gutters, I will be happy to put the ladder away replaced by the new solars. I will bring those 2 legacy cameras back to Ct and use them in this home, along with my older plug in camera that is being used now in the garage. I should have a nice system in Florida and patch together a basic system in Ct with extra parts. Thanks so much for the info.
