I’ve been using Arlo for a while, and I have Geo fencing rule set up. The new Arlo app which looked to be a good idea so I upgraded. What resulted was everything I set up was lost. It said everything was going to be imported, including geofencing rules. Nothing was imported.  what I got was a complete loss of everything I had set up with regard to security of my home by upgrading.  The new Geo fencing that I do have that I went through manually to try to set up instead of showing individual devices by name is shows something like iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone. How in the hell am I supposed to distinguish one of those from another? I have not yet found a way to distinguish one device from another within the geofencing rules. I recently discovered this when I left, and my wife was home and all the internal cameras turned on as a result. None of the internal cameras are supposed to turn on, unless both of us are gone, and they never used to until I upgraded to the newest app. Now, apparently there’s no going back so I’m stuck with trying to figure out this mess. The Arlo has left and I’m not happy. This is not the first time the Arlo has simply screwed people over with their updates. I have had a problem in the past with Arlo doing mandatory firmware updates to cameras that have broken cameras, detection of motion, audio, etc., and have caused them to not record things properly to the base unit when they do detect motion sound or whatever. Instead of allowing us the option of do I want to take this firmware update or do I want to take the software update? It’s pretty much forced on us by Arlo as you will take this or else. I have grown really tired of this kind of attitude from Arlo and I’ve spent a lot of money on the numerous cameras that I have and I’m now looking at alternative solutions and dumping Arlo altogether. Because enough is enough fix your garbage make it right Arlo.

Log into each phone/tablet that you use (both for the primary account and friend accounts).

Then go the the available geofence devices screen

  1. press on the profile icon on the top left
  2. Select the "Privacy Center"
  3. Select "Account" (likely already selected)
  4. Select Available Geofence Devices

The device you are using will be identified with a "Your Device" label.

If you don't want to use this device for geofencing (for example if it is a wifi tablet), then you should delete it from the list.  Otherwise, rename it to something unique.

When you've done this with all devices, check the list for anything you didn't rename.  These "ghost" devices are duplicates that ended up on the list due to app bugs.  Delete them.

Note that if you use the "friend" account feature,  the ghost device might have been added to the friend account.  You'll need to log into the friend account to delete them.

BTW, you and your wife can both use the primary account on your phones.  Arlo used to restrict you to one login at a time, but that is no longer the case.
